American Jewelry & Coin Auction LLC Terms & Conditions - All Rights Reserved
Final sales prices are determined through Public Auction, with competitive Online Bidding. Because we do not set the final sales prices - ALL SALES ARE FINAL except for the guarantees explicitly outlined below.
METALS: Gold & Sterling Silver are guaranteed 100% genuine.
DIAMONDS: All diamonds are 100% guaranteed for authenticity. Diamonds are tested on electronic Presidium Gem Testers and are guaranteed to be genuine. Opinions of size, color, clarity, cut and cutting style can vary greatly among experts and are not warrantied.
COLORED STONES: Gemstones listed as "Genuine" or "Natural" are tested by Presidium Gem Testers and are guaranteed to have the chemical properties of a genuine gemstone. All colored gemstones are considered to have had treatments common in the marketplace such as heat, diffusion, lead glass and flux additives. 99.99% of all colored gemstones on the marketplace have had treatment. Colored gemstones without "Genuine" designation are untested and are considered to be synthetic, man-made or unknown in regards to the original origin of the stone. These stones cannot be warrantied and should be purchased for their aesthetic value.
WATCHES: All time pieces sold by AJCA LLC are pre-owned and guaranteed authentic. Watches are verified by professional watch makers by serial number and cross referencing the movement of the watch. We guarantee the movement of the watch, as that is all we can honestly warranty. We DO NOT warranty bands, bezels, crowns, dials, crystals or any other parts making up a watch that could be after market. Simply put, pre-owned watches, much like a car can have a wide variety of aftermarket parts. If a pre-owned Lexus gets new tires, is it still a Lexus? The same is true for watches.
COINS & CURRENCY: AJCA LLC guarantees the authenticity of coins and currency. AJCA LLC makes no warranty as to the condition of coins or currency. Coin grading varies greatly based on the experience of grading standards of the individual or grading company, it should be used as a guideline. AJCA LLC does not warranty any basis of grades.
ART: Art is consgined, professionally packaged and shipped by third party art gallieres that specialize in the art business, Art ships separately from all other purchased items. The following art definitions can be helpful in knowing the type of item being offered for sale.
ORIGINAL PAINTING:A one-of-a-kind art work that has been fully created and produced by the artists themselves. With real paintings, subtle nuances of color, paint application and surface texture can be seen when compared to even the best reproductions.
ORIGINAL PRINT: A print created by hand and by the artist. Using a variety of techniques an artist may produce one or several near identical images yet call them all “original” which is a matter of contention amongst collectors.
ETCHING: A technique where the pattern is made by painting a resistive agent onto a metal plate, then washing the plate in a corrosive solution to remove the unpainted areas. This gives the metal plate a slight three dimensional property
SERIGRAPH: The patterns in this process are not etched, cut or carved but painted onto a series of fine silk screens. When dry, paper is placed under the screen while colored ink is applied to the top surface. Ink is transferred onto the paper in the areas not originally painted.
REMARQUE: (ree mar K) is where an artist takes one of his prints and paints on it. Because remarqués are partially hand painted, they are more valuable than a limited edition print but not as expensive as a full blown original.
GICLEE PRINT: Pronounced gee-clay with a soft J sounding g as in gel or better yet a French sounding JJJee-clay. A giclée is the absolute best and most advanced form of printing technology in use today. Giclée's also use specially made inks with true light fast pigments similar to artist paint and archival papers and canvas. This ensures that the artwork you purchase will retain it's color.
LIMITED EDITION PRINTS: A print where the total number of prints to be made has been predetermined or limited.
OPEN EDITION PRINTS: Art prints that can any number of copies made. There is no limit. It doesn’t imply that the print itself is inferior. Typically there isn’t much investment value but that may not matter for it’s intended use.
LITHOGRAPHS: Made by creating 4 large (and expensive) metal plates which are etched and used in a very large press to print the image. 3 colors (yellow, magenta and cyan) plus black are used to reproduce the print in 4 individual passes within the press. They can be “limited editions” or “open editions” as required.
Lithograph technology used to be considered good (pre 2000). But their tendency to fade, especially with the reddish hues and the advent of far superior giclées have pretty much put them out of use.
LASER PRINTS: Not to be considered “art prints”. Why? Copying machines are made to produce quick and economical reproductions for reports and pamphlets etc. As such they don’t need to last for years so the inks and paper used are not archival.
APPRAISALS & OPINIONS OF VALUE: All values including appraisal prices and auction estimates are to be used as guidance and are not guaranteed by the auction company or the appraisal company. No appraisal or auction estimate should be used as a suggestion of resell value. Opinions of value and quality of stones can vary greatly among "experts" based on current market conditions, availability in the market place, geographical location, gemological equipment types, method of grading and the evaluator's training. Such variances do not constitute any error on either evaluator. AJCA LLC does not warranty any opinion of value, or grading evaluation.
As is customary in the jewelry business, when items are manufactured and are so similar in makeup that there is no difference in weight or appearance, a certificate may be duplicated for each piece that is manufactured and evaluated by the appraiser. There are several items in this auction that are brand new, manufactured items, and this process would be similar to the processes used by major chain jewelry stores that have several of a single item.
Photography: All items are photographed used a 10x high powered macro lens. Items are placed in a professional lighting studio box to enhance the lighting and represent natural lighting from the outdoors.
It is important to note that items will appear in photos as if you are viewing them under a 10x loupe, and can look different (generally better) to the naked eye. Items are NOT edited or altered at all. Manufactured goods may be examined and appraised by the appraisal company in groups, with reports being issued reflecting their findings and views that are the same. Photographs used for the purpose of appraisals or auction listing may be used multiple times when an item is manufactured to have no noticeable difference.
