Ernst Louizor (Haitian, 1938-2011) Original. Haitian landscape with young woman watering a mule in the forefront. Size: 12 x 16 in. Medium: Oil on canvas(Heavy Imposto). Signature: Lower right. Condition: Very good with minor aging in the paint and light abrasions along the edges. Louizor is considered the leading impressionist not only of Haiti but of the whole Caribbean. Ernst Louizor was born in Port-au-Prince on October 16, 1938. After high school (Lycee Toussaint L'Ouverture '57) he worked in the tax section of Customs. Louizor's painting career began in 1951 when at the age of 13 he joined the Centre d'Art and studied under Wilmino Domond. Ernst's paintings are appreciating rapidly and certainly harder to find!
