Artist Charles Cobelle, born in France in 1902, was a prolific oil and watercolor painter. His impressionistic and modern art form is often presented using light colors, pastels, washes of various tones, and open lines. He studied at the University of Munich and the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was also privately tutored by Marc Chagall.
After moving to America in the 1920s and becoming a citizen, his work became well-known, and artist Charles Cobelle's oil painting prices increased, allowing him to become commercially successful. His artwork appeared on magazine covers and wall murals. Toward the end of his life, he often signed his paintings Chas Cobelle instead of just Cobelle. Charles Cobelle's paintings often depict casinos, city and town streets, race tracks, and regattas.
Congratulations to the winning bidder!
