Lead Complete Suit of Knightly Plate Armour, 17th centu
Description
Full suit of European composed armour with homogeneous helm of high quality and all original. Close helm burgonet with an open face for visor or breaths. This rare example features a smooth single piece round skull with no comb, late 16th or 17th century. 17th century large impressive pauldrons consisting of 5-lames each including the primary defense with a series of rivets in decorative patterns. Several old restored or later replaced lames. Upper cannons 17th century with smooth rotation to each. Couter 17th century matching with rolled edges and linear detailing similar to the helm. Vambrace 17th century with linear detailing and hinged reverse. Gauntlets 17th century (fingers absent) additional oxidization. Breastplate 17th century in high polish and quite heavy. Two riveted turn down bars either side to secure belt or strap. The edged of the lower fauld and collar smooth rolled with pierced holed to the collar. Backplate and breastplate with top shoulder straps that secure to between shoulders. Backplate 17th century hand hammered from a single sheet of steel with rolled edges. Tassets matching consisting of 5-lames each. Cuisse, poleyn, and fan plate 17th century style with roped edged and riveted detailing. Greaves and sabatons 17th century style, consisting of multiple plates of well articulating lames. Mounted on a custom stand with full padded body. Suit only 72" H, 84" on included stand, width elbow to elbow 31", 19 1/4" depth clear signs of age and delamination, old leathers (some torn), some wire to hold components, missing or replaced rivets, oxidization and patination to various surfaces. Ownership of lots shall not be transitioned to the respective winning bidder until the auction house is satisfied with all funds being transferred and cleared to the auction house's account. All sales are final. Buyers have 10 days to arrange for removal of lots from the auction houses facility. After 10 days the auction house reserves the right to charge a $5 storage fee for each additional day until the lots have been removed. The auction house reserves the right to relist and sell any lots which have accrued a storage fee larger than the hammer plus buyer's premium total for a given lot.
