Breeders Crown Charity Challenge
The original Breeders Crown Charity Challenge was a vision long time harness horseman Marvin Katz had in 2019. The mission was to give back to charities in their communities where the Breeders Crown was being held, all while bringing interest outside of the harness world to the Breeders Crown. In 2020, Hoosier Park embraced the Charity Challenge in raising over $120,000 that were distributed to four very valuable charities. Along with each charity, the celebrities, and the
participation of some very gracious harness trainers and owners, the 2020 event was a huge success.
The Meadowlands in 2021, and Woodbine/Mohawk in 2022 continued the momentum of the Charity
Challenge. Hoosier Park will once again host the Breeders Crown in the fall of 2023, and once again the Charity Challenge will be held in Indiana. Now is the time to answer the bell, become a part of an event that is bigger than all others and most important!!
Prize money will be raised in a several unique ways.
- Internet Auction. An internet auction will go live on August 11 during the Dan Patch Stakes and continue until the Caesars Trot on September 22. This will be unlike any other auction you will find. Items will include from Breeders Crown VIP experience at the 2024 Breeders Crown, NFL Suites for Las Vegas Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, and concerts at Caesars Palace. Other items still to be determined, however with the power of the best know name in gaming and horse racing being the track owner, the sky is the limit!
- Breeding Auction. Some of the worlds most famous breeders have donated breeding's for their stallions. Stallion breeding auctions will take place at the Lexington Sale, Hoosier Sale, and Ohio Sale. As in years past the breeding auctions really help supplement the Charity Challenge purses. Many thanks go out to past donors, and all future donors.
- Donations. Connections will be made with Indiana companies to contribute to
contribute a monetary donation. When else are you able to give and affect four
unique charities at once.
