fiery opalescent to colorless rim, 5-pointed star to front center, plain rim. Extremely rare. New England, probably Boston & Sandwich Glass Co. 1828-1835. 3 9/16" D. <i>Appearance is proof, however, the rim shows evidence of light polishing to the underside, probably post production, some typical mold roughness to edge of table ring.</i> Literature: Lee/Rose - American Glass Cup Plates, p. 95. The collection of the late Alvina Breckel, of Oley, PA, and Winnetka, IL. This auction represented one of the finest collections to come to the market since the landmark William J. Elsholz auctions in 1986/87. We produced a special printed catalogue for this sale. <p><b>Day One Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 1:00 pm ET</b> </p><p>Comprised the Breckel cup plate collection being the finest offered since the dispersal of the Elsholz collection. The Breckels purchased some of the most iconic pieces at the Elsholz auctions including the legendary Lee/Rose No. 560 round Washington cup plate. The collection included numerous unique examples including the Lee/Rose No. 64-X Parker White which they purchased at our auction of the Leon Powell collection in 2007.
