1935G $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades f+ Motto. FR-1616 Smith-Dilon Midway through the final issue of the 1935 series of $1 silver certificates, the now-well-established motto of "In God We Trust" was added to the back of the notes. Thus there are both "With Motto" and "Without Motto" varieties of the 1935G $1 Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

FR-1614* Priest-Humphrey When notes are discovered that have been printed incorrectly (such as having the serial numbers upside down, etc.) the misprinted "error notes" are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a certain series can be produced with the same serial number. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. By their nature, star notes are more scarce than notes with standard serial numbers and as such are widely collected by numismatists. Some of the highest prices paid for modern (post-1928) U.S. banknotes have been for star notes. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. 1934D $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades Choice AU. Fr-1654 1934 $5 silver certificates actually come in five different varieties. There are series of 1934, 1934A, 1934B, 1934C, and 1934D. The difference between these notes is the signature combination. Each bill is clearly marked as to what series it is from Small-size $5 Silver Certificates were issued with series dates of 1934 and 1953. Once redeemable for silver coin or bullion, these notes and the redemption option were discontinued by Act of Congress in 1963. Silver Certificates, with their distinctive blue Treasury seals and serial numbers, are among the most sought-after U.S. currency notes.

This involves an extra step involving polishing the planchets, which leads to a more matte appearance of the finished coins. Additionally, the "W" mint mark was used on an MS Silver Eagle for the first time this year.

1928B $10 Green Seal Federal Reseve Note Redeemable In Gold Grades Select AU.

1874 Indian Cent 1c Grades vf details. According to Jaime Hernandez from PCGS, The 1874 Indian Cent is somewhat of a scarcer issue. Semi key date that in circulated grades carries a premium over the type coins in the series. With an original mintage of over 14.2 million; PCGS estimated that only 6000 survive in all grades.

1864 $5 Confederate Note, T69 Grades vf++. From the seventh and last issue of Confederate currency, these bills were authorized in February 1864. When these $5 notes were issued over 150 years ago, each one was individually signed and numbered. This $5 Confederate note has a pink overprint and a picture of the Virginia State Capitol in the center. In the lower right corner of the note is a picture of C.G. Memminger. This note was printed on plain paper with pink and black ink on the front and blue ink on the back.

1935A $1 Silver Certificate Hawaii WWII Emergency Currency Grades vf+. FR-2300 Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau WWII Emergency Currency. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Everybody in Hawaii was sitting on pins and needles. Were the Japanese preparing a massive invasion of the islands? If they did invade, they could use the millions of dollars in currency on the islands to buy war material. To thwart this, these $1 Federal Reserve Notes were sent to the islands. Each has a large HAWAII printed on the reverse. If the Japanese did invade, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "Hawaii" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.

1944 Germany Allied Military Currency 10 Marks Note P# 194b, 9 digit, no F Graded xf40 By PMG. The AM-Mark ("Allied Military Currency") was the currency issued in Allied-occupied Germany by AMGOT after the commencement of Operation Wild Dog in 1944. There were individual prefix identifications for Occupation zones (USA > 1, British > 0, French > 00, Russian > -). These notes circulated through mid 1948. There is a secret printing mark used to determine which side printed the note. For the Americans this is a stylized "F" for the printer, Forbes Lithographic, which appears on the 1/2, 1, 5 and 10 mark notes in the left ball of the scroll directly below the lower right denomination value. The letter also appears on the 20, 50, 100 and 1000 marks. The Soviet Union printed identical notes but without the "F".

These distinctive $1 Federal Reserve Notes bear the signature of Joseph W. Barr, who served as Secretary of the Treasury during the last 28 days of President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration. 1928 $10 Gold Certificate Signatures Woods/Mellon Grades vf++. FR-2400 Alexander Hamilton is the central subject of this scarce $10 gold note, issued because of a change in the size of United States currency beginning with all series dated 1928. This change in the size of America’s currency came about from a study that had determined that printing smaller currency would save the government a hefty amount of money in production cost. Because of the nature of gold certificates – each one accompanied the deposit of gold coins – they are somewhat scarce to begin with, as gold is far more scarce than silver. Add to that the decision to drop the gold standard by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1933, thus making owning gold coin (or notes promising gold coin) illegal, and you end up with a series of notes that was printed, then recalled less than six years after their initial issue. Many of the notes were destroyed when turned in, and few of them survived. Fortunately for collectors, the restriction for owning gold certificates as collectibles was repealed by Treasury Secretary C. Douglas Dillon in 1964, but the damage had been done to the stockpiles of said notes. Not many remain of the millions that had originally been issued prior to the depression.

Each side of this piece balances warm chocolate Brown with dark chocolate brown color beneath a dusting of pearlescent luster. The surfaces are overall smooth and untroubled, with just a few trivial marks on the obverse. Evidence of a late die state is apparent near the rims, though the design elements are bold and the eye appeal is delightfully strong. This example represents the first year of the Classic Head series from dies made by John Reich, an accomplished German immigrant who did outstanding work in his era, most notably on various historical medals. His Capped Bust design initiated in 1807 on the half dollar is well known, as is the Classic Head motif inaugurated this year on the cent and in 1809 on the half cent. The Classic Head cents present a challenge in terms of surface quality. Porosity and dullness are the rule, this extending through the end of the series in 1814. Supplies of copper became a problem, especially after the War of 1812 cut off shipments from England. The offered 1808 cent is ideal as an example of the variety and, probably even more likely in terms of bidding activity, as the first year of the design type. I have included another ms61 BN example. The reason they are called funnybacks is because of the unique design on the back of the bill. The word 'one' is printed in a "funny" font that is quite different from anything ever printed on a bill. This nickname is not exclusive to the 1928 series, as the 1934 one dollar silver certificate bills have the same back design so they are also known as funnybacks. this $1 note was among the first small-size Silver Certificates. But after I opened the rolls, I wished I hadn’t as they were so cool as antique Las Vegas Half Rolls. I have only seen a handful of these ever. The consignee has given us some additional rolls. We estimate the rolls to be worth $2000 each as a collectable antique, but if the roll is opened and has a rare date, who knows the value, a 1921 Walker even in low grade is worth over $500, and several other dates are worth over $200 each. But who knows, maybe a rare 1878-s Seated is inside. ($35k in g4), or an 1892-o Barber ($5k in G4). In any event the rolls themselves are amazing collectibles of a bygone era of the Rat pack and Las Vegas. From the rolls we have received there are 10 different casinos. Good Luck.

1953 $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades Select AU. FR-1655 Five dollar silver certificates were first issued in 1886. The series ended in 1953 with the Lincoln blue seals. The 1953 $5 silver certificate looks very similar to the earlier 1934 issues except that the “5” on the left hand side of the note is in blue, and the seal on the right hand side is smaller. All 1953 blue seal silver certificates feature a portrait of Abraham Lincoln. There is a blue seal on the right hand side of the bill. The serial number is also in blue writing. No 1953 five dollar silver certificate says In God We Trust. The following writing is on each note: “Silver Certificate This Certifies That There Is On Deposit In The Treasury Of The United States Of America Five Dollars In Silver Payable To The Bearer On Demand” “This Certificate Is Legal Tender For All Debts Public And Private” All 1953 blue seals were printed in Washington DC.

1935C $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Graded cu65 By CGA. FR-1612 Julian-Snyder Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

This note features the familiar portrait of George Washington that was used on all of our $1 bills through to today, and the back shows A large One Dollar and gives this note its name of a "Funny Back". This note does not have the familiar "In God We Trust" motto on the reverse, though, as that motto was not added until 1957.

US Fractional Currency 10c Third Issue fr-1255 Washington Bust Green Reverse Grades vf+. Fractional or postage currency has a rich history. At the beginning of the Civil War people starting hoarding coins for their precious metal content. Coins became difficult to find because of the hoarding. People started to try to use stamps instead of coins as a means of commerce. The government decided to help ease the hoarding issue by issuing “paper coins” also known as postage currency or fractional currency. Fractional currency was first issued on August 21, 1862 and they were last issued on February 15, 1876. Three cents, five cents, ten cents, twenty-five cents, and fifty cents notes were all issued. Fractional currency is physically smaller than other United States money. It also does not have a serial number.
