Rising Stars started as a small program with a Big Dream. Serving just 18 participants in its "pilot program in 2009; the program is now in its 15th year. Our original mission was to provide hippotherapy and therapeutic riding to those in need in the south-central Idaho area in a safe, caring environment at little or no charge to the participant. In these years since 2009, we've expanded in both quantity and quality of services we provide. During the summer of 2023 we served over 110 participants, using over 150 volunteer hours, 18 horses, 6 instructors, 2 occupational therapists, 2 speech language pathologists, and 3 physical therapists weekly. With the completion of our new facility, purchased in 2017 and rebuilt in the years to follow, we are now also able to offer year round services and cooperative programs with schools and other human service organizations. With this growth has come the realization that it’s still only a drop in a bucket. Rising Stars can offer much more! We continue to work hard at being creative with programming and with the help of our generous community we will continue to strive to offer quality services to more people who need them, helping our participants to “rise beyond the reins of limitation.”
